Finally
Oh my goodness, where has the time gone? It doesn't seem like it could be over two weeks since I last updated! Miles the cat has arrived and is settling in quite nicely. He does, however, have a bad habit of sitting on my lap and purring around 2 in the afternoon, which, of course, causes me to doze and prevents some of the many important things I plan to do from being completed. (It's my story and I'm sticking to it.)
Youngest DD finally decided to get a hair cut. Her hair was rapidly approaching her waist, so she had approx. 10" clipped and sent to Locks of Love where it will be used for wigs for children with cancer. Then the rest was cut and trimmed, and when all was said and done, her hair is now shoulder length. I'm very pround of her for her contribution. I'm also glad she went this route and didn't have her head shaved. While I understand the reasons for those who do get their heads shaved, having lost my own hair once means being bald stands as something to be avoided, whether by choice or not.
I will hopefully be able to finish my Christmas shopping next week, and then we will put the tree up. Next week will be busy.

I think your Miles is related to my Cleo. I love our afternoon time together. Brava for your daughter and her donation to locks of love.
Good for your DD. I can't sleep when one of the cats is on my lap because they fidget so or else decide to knead me to death. I hate being kneaded by a cat!
A friend of mine just got all her hair lopped off in a show of solidarity with her mom. Her brother went first and got a total shave, including his beard, which was the real sacrifice. I couldn't recognize him.
Then my friend went. She cried through the whole haircut but the hairdresser-friend who was doing the cutting gave her an extreme butch cut leaving just enough 1/2 inch and inch long hair that she wasn't totally bald. Her shoulder-length curls were gone but she still looked like a girl. Her mom felt happier with this look.
If I had to lose all my hair I would not want my family to shave their heads. I would not feel particularly comforted by it.

I love taking an afternoon nap on the weekends with all my kitties.

Yeay for the Locks of Love donation! We have a 5yo friend of my daughters who did it... beautiful thick hair! I could never grow my hair long enough to do it!!
