ACK!
My 13 1/2 year old wants to apply for a weekend job as bus girl at Boston Pizza.
My 17 1/2 year old wants to accept a promise ring from her boyfriend of one and a half years.
I want to stop time so they don't grow any older.

Let the 13 & 1/2 y.o. go for it. Maybe she will inspire my DD's BF who still doesn't have a job ay age 22!
Let me know if you figure out how to stop time.
*hopes 17 y.o. isn't preggers soon*

While I can't really tell the future, Swami, my 17 year old (who was always an old kid in relation to her age) grew even older during her cancer treatment. I cannot remember being so young and so sure of where and what I was going to do. Not even yet.
Wow. 13.5 is pretty young for that kind of job, as she'll be hanging around a lot of older people. A job is good, but maybe not in a bar/restaurant. As for the 17 year old, eh, there's probably nothing you can do other than voice your opinion on her age & how first loves aren't always the best loves. Then she'll go ahead & do it and the relationship will probably crumble at some point. Heartache sucks, but it is hard to spare kids from it.
I agree Kim, however, Boston Pizza is where the older one works as a hostess part time, so the younger wouldn't be working completely with strangers. It might be a good introduction with her sister there.
Let the 13 yo have the job...it'll be good for her, especially with her sister there to keep an eye out for her.
As for the 17 yo...been there, done that. He and I broke up a semester and a month or so into college. He was home, I was 300 miles away and it just wasn't the same as it was in high school. Let her accept it. Be thankful she's as adult as she is, honest as she is with you, and count your lucky stars that at least it's a boy you know and hopefully like.
Growing up sucks, but these are good problems to have! It could be a tattoo for the 13 year old and a high school drop out. Or even worse.
*hugs*

*sigh* I know what you mean. I want them to stop growing so quickly. One of mine is 18 and the other is 15. Where did the time go? I can't be old enough to have an "adult" child! *boggle*
