The Weekend's Over

And a good Canada Day time was had by all. Somebody (who shall be referred to as DH to protect the guilty) had a little too much imbibement around the campfire pit Saturday night, so when he was getting wood to put on, I poured some water in his canvas chair. He was supposed to sit in it first so his pants were damp, but he saw it and said “What the hell…”. I, of course, loudly proclaimed he had pissed in his chair! Although the denial was immediate, he did make a quick check of his sweatpants, which had me rolling on the ground. When he threatened to find a way to get even, I clutched my chest and wailed that I was sick and it could bring on a heart attack. Might have got away with it, had I not still been laughing.

The steaks I got were SO tender – when we were flipping them on the bbq with the tongs, you had to be careful they didn’t fall apart. Add the bbq carrots and potatoes, garlic bread, cucumber slices (with vinegar) and the marinated veggie salad with feta cheese and top it all off with strawberry shortcake for dessert, and everyone was hard pressed to be able to move after that supper.

Now it’s time for the southern celebrations. Happy Independence Day!

Comments:
It sounds like you had a wonderfully fun time! We're having our BBQ with friends tonight and then we'll go see the local fireworks. Last night we went to the outdoor Hollywood Bowl for an all American music and fireworks show with special guest Kenny Loggins.

Your BBQ sounds drool-worthy.

I bet you and your DH are fun to hang out with.

Aww, sounds like a great time! And your food sounds way better than ours was. :)

Oh, your BBQ sounds lovely! LOL at the DH checking his pants for wetness! I would have died laughing.

We didn't BBQ this year, instead we ate chicken curry. Very unAmerican I guess. I would have BBQed but I didn't have any good steaks and besides I was jonesing for curry after eating sister's blandBLAND cooking for so long.

Canadian beef is soooo good, especially out west. Here in the US midwest you have to pick your butcher carefully because too much meat is produced from butchering old dairy cows. Not the tenderest or tastiest meat around!

*wants a thick juicy steak now*

You are seriously making me so hungry.

The only picnicy food I had this weekend was BBQ chicken.

I did, however, make bruschetta twice, as I found some REALLY good tomatoes.

I copied you. Last night, we were sitting on a public grass area to watch the community fireworks. The sprinklers came on at 9:30 pm. My friend got very wet and she said her pants were all wet. I announced, "Look everyone, Susan wet her pants."

LMAO. I want to make someone think they peed themselves. *giggle*

I might have got away with it better, had I waited till full dark, but I have no patience. Full dark, he might not have seen the water in his chair before he sat down.

Went to my folkses for a barbecue on Sunday. My brother was in town, so it was good to see him and his fiancee. BTW, when they get married, they'll do so in Buffalo! (Peep meet!)

Reminds me of an old friend of mine who hit me below the belt with a water balloon at a picnic. So the next week, I threw her in a swimming pool fully clothed.

Sounds like a fun time!

Are there any steaks left?
