Summer Weather

My beautiful pansies are toast. It started as a thunder storm with heavy rain, and then the hail began. I watched from the window as the hailstones bounced on the lawn. It looked almost like something alive, as the ice jumped up and bounced. But what it did to my poor little pansies…sheer carnage. Bits of coloured petals surround the pots that were so lush and full. The little faces aren’t smiling any more. I hope the plants can recover, and that they will bloom again.

Hail, hail, the gang’s all gone.

Comments:
Lol, at first I read "my beautiful pantsies" so I had to start again at the top.

They'll probably recover (most of them.) Just pinch off the poor, crushed blooms.

We haven't had a hail storm yet this year. *Knocks on wood*

*does pansy dance*

LOL I just bought eight new pair of panties (cute lacey ones) and no way were my beautiful pantsies going out in the hail.

I too thought you were talking about your panties.

*snaps Carey's panties*

Just trying to take your mind off the the terrible horrible pain in your finger.

I'm sorry, that's so sad. I saved some perennials from a garbage can death last night. For .99 each, I got some on their last leg. I'll be able to save the poor dears, but it will take some TLC.

Aw, your poor pansies.

We are getting a lot of rain the last couple of days. Monday's thunderstorms were very loud.

It's good, because the plants need the water. I promised my neighbour I'd water our shared lawn and her garden while she is away. (Because her husband and son are pointless wastes of space who I'm surprised are still alive, what with no-one to cook or clean for them for the last month.)

However, I don't believe in watering too often. I'm sure plants are supposed to be able to survive short periods of drought. It's not like it's been the hottest, driest summer on record or something.

Sorry for rambling.

I plant pansies in the winter here. They are so pretty.

Right now I have petunias and they always look a bit battered after a heavy rain but they always perk up.

Good luck with your pansies.

Are they male pansies? You could introduce them to some zucchini or cucumbers if you have a vegetable garden, too.
