Short Dilemma

I do not have a single pair of shorts. So I tried to find a pair. Now, I hate trying things on, but recognize the necessity. As a result, I did not get any shorts. The ones that looked okay when standing tended to pull across the bottom front of the leg when I tried to take a step and were annoying. Perhaps if the material had more give it would have been okay, but it didn’t. I like an elastic waist in shorts, cause it doesn’t seem to be so sweaty and confining on really hot days, but I wasn’t finding any of those either. The only ones that would have been acceptable were part of a pair of pajamas. Sadly, they a snoozy kitty pattern that readily identified them as pjs. It was proof that the style I want exists, even if they don’t offer them as day wear.

So I ended up with a skirt. Ankle length, shading from light blue to a darker blue bottom, light cotton, and fairly full. It swings nicely and will be cool to wear and the cotton, while light and flowy, is not so light that underwear is a constant requirement. I’ll keep looking for a pair of shorts, but I’m glad I found something for now.

Comments:
I never wear shorts because I hate my legs. Capris are as short as I go.

Is it one of those bohemian skirts that are all the rage right now? Kind of crinkly material?

I was trying for just above the knee shorts. The skirt is kind of crinkly, but not as much as some I have seen. More like the natural cotton creases.

I think Survey has described a prairie skirt. Knockers knows all about prairie skirts.

I like flowy skirts. A while ago, I got a nice pair of shorts at Cotton Ginny. And my first pair of capris, actually.

So? you plan on going commando while wearing the prairie skirt? *giggles*

I saw a woman yesterday wearing a really nice white flowy skirt. Unfortunately, I could also see her undies and her cellulite. Then again, I suppose I was fortunate that she was wearing undies LOL.

The only place I wear shorts these days is around the house.

Long skirts I cannot wear. I think it stems from my thick waist. Paired with by big hips. And fat thighs. The list goes on. Knee length & above skirts are ok. Ankle length skirts made me look like I'm wearing a tent.

My shorts have to hit below where my thighs start rubbing or I'm doomed.

Good luck on finding some shorts for the summer.

I never wear shorts anymore because my legs are too old. I love long skirts, however. I just got a new one to wear to a wedding this Saturday. Not sure if I'll go commando though. Probably not.

I have worn a pajama top I liked as a blouse several times, but never a bottom. I also once liked a nightgown so much that I just cut the bottom 2 feet off and wore it as a tuck-in blouse. I got all kinds of compliments on it too.

Hey Nookie! Want to see some cellulite?!? *flash*

Now I have to go stand in front of a mirror in the sun and see just how see-through my wedding skirt is.

My alternate choice is a long black skirt that I love. Is it still bad luck to wear black to a wedding? I was going to wear the black one to the dance afterwards, but I could wear it to both I guess.

prairie skirst are the only way to go.

How about a skort? I just bought a couple of skorts...shorts underneath, but looks like a skirt on the outside. You don't have to sit like a lady.

That skirt sounds lovely. I should get some of those. hmmm.
