Accomplishments
Yesterday DH made spagetti sauce, since they have been rained out at work. This involves two huge pots and lots to go in the freezer. The man can certainly make a good sauce. However, of late, I have been using the top foot space in the freezer, and moving stuff around to get the lid closed. There was literally no where to put the new stuff. So I spent yesterday cleaning out the freezer.
And what a job it was. In the depths I found a frozen chicken with a date on it from 2000. The choices were either chuck it or enroll it in school for the upcoming year, cause somebody needed an education. A whole layer of pig parts from when we had purchased a pig, and left the parts we didn't want to use in the bottom of the freezer. I can't believe how much I chucked out. But the main thing is, I now know exactly what is in the freezer, and I have an abundance of room to put more in.
And the sauce turned out great!

What's the "top foot space" in the freezer? I don't have a separate freezer, aside from the little one attached to the refrigerator. And I still lose things in there.

I have a mid size chest freezer, and there was so much crap in the bottom that I was only using the top foot of space.

This is why I don't have a freezer. Permafrost at the bottom.
I actually had a small chest freexer once and I wound up giving it away because I hated taking everything out to look for the one iten I wanted which was always at the bottom.

Good for you, Survey, for cleaning out the freezer. We have a little 3' x 3' x 3' one. It's really iced up and I need to defrost it.
Does your DH cook a lot? Mine just does the standard BBQ. He's really very good at it.
