Hard Lesson
Older DD called this morning. Because she has to work tonight, she drove to school instead of taking the bus. And she left a few minutes late. So she decided to make up time. She now owes $120 for a speeding ticket. And she didn’t save any time. In fact she was later than she would have been, had she stuck to the speed limit. I want to say “How many times have I told you speed limits are enforced, and not to speed?”. But I won’t. I also won’t contribute to the ticket fund, as some things have to be learned the hard way. I do feel bad for her though, so I will make one of her favourite foods for supper, split pea soup. I make it with the dried green peas, not the yellow ones, and lots of ham pieces. Care for a bowl?
Oh, and the lilacs are out:

I also wouldn't contribute anything to the ticket. Aren't you the sweetest mom to make one of her fave dishes!!
Lilac trees are my absolute most fave of all trees. I wish they had them here. I used to have one in Montreal.

I think you are handling it well. I actually had my licesne suspended for accumulating three speeding tickets in two years. My dad never helped pay for them, and I'm not sure paying for them taught me much of a lesson. However, having my license suspended did. I don't speed too much anymore.
I'm sure she feels terrible about it, you are good to console her with soup.

I can't believe all the hatred for innocent pea soup. I mean, anybody can mash potatoes, not everyone can pea soup.
Are you trying to tell us you pea green?
Gee, first we talk about poop for days and now it's pea! *rolls eyes*

Ohhhhh Lilacs...I love them.
Growing up my grandmother had two, and I would just sit near them for hours reading or something, the smell always takes me back to that.
Oh, and I would not contribute to the ticket fund either.
